Chainmail Top Hand crafted using 16g 5/16" bright aluminum (nickel free) saw cut rings. A European 4 in 1 weave was used to create the top. Anodized aluminum rings are light weight and durable. They will not tarnish, color you skin, stain or rust.

What are these rings made from?
They are made of Aluminum Alloy 5356, which has 5% Magnesium and makes for a much brighter finish than regular aluminum and doesn't oxidize(no blackness rub-off) which creates a ring that is approx. 2/3rds the strength of steel but only 1/3rd the weight.
Are the finish/rings durable?
The finish is corrosion resistant and can stand up to most damage. Cutting or grinding on the ring with another hard metal surface (grooved pliers, scissors, etc) will damage the rings. Corrosive liquids (acids like chlorine) will also cause damage. This means the rings that are light weight, strong and resistant to common wear and tear. The rings will not re-open during normal use. Rings can be bent/deformed using tools or deliberately abusing the rings. Rings can be re-closed using a pair of smooth jawed pliers (this is the exception and not the rule as rings will not open with regular use).
Can the top be cleaned?
Yes! this shouldn't be needed but if something does get on it use water and non-acidic soap. Do not use an abrasive scrubber. Remember to remove ties before soaking.
What is the difference between saw cut and machine cut rings?
saw cut rings have a smooth closure for a virtually seamless closure. While machine cut rings are clipped which leaves a gap and makes for a weaker closure.
These rings are saw cut so they have a clean/solid closure. Each ring is hand closed with hand tools so each ring is visibly checked for large gaps and visible edges during construction.
Since this is a handcrafted item there can be some small tool marks (scuffs) on the piece, please remember this when purchasing. Any ring with obvious damage is not used.
