This piece is unique and versatile. It was handmade, from the c. 1920s and used probably as an undergarment/slip for other dresses. It’s sturdy and well made from good fabric and well sewn. The shoulders have a double snap closure and the front a single snap at the neck. The skirt is over the knee with a double ruffle bottom layer. It is likely that this was once an integral layering piece in a ladies wardrobe. It was rescued from an estate sale, kept all these years by a woman who valued this piece of clothing for its heritage, no doubt. It has a few pin holes from age, but is otherwise sound in construction. It’s an amazing part of fashion history.
