On January 1, we close out the Christmas octave—the eight days following the birth of Christ—with a day honoring Mary as the Mother of God. January 1 is not a Holy Day of Obligation this year. We will have Masses for this Solemnity on Friday, December 31, at 5:15 PM, and on Saturday, January 1
