The name Vans was coined when people would say “Let’s head over to Van’s and grab shoes”, Vans took the nickname and ran with it. They produced only 3 pairs and put them in the window. People could come in, order the model and color, and come later to pick up their shoes. Meanwhile the owners rushed tot he factory to produce the shoes.
